1. Pecan Energies and the Future of Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points

Ghana's energy sector is gearing up for a transformational phase with Pecan Energies driving progress at the Deepwater Tano/Cape Three Points (DWT/CTP) block. After the Ministry of Energy approved its Plan of Development in mid-2023, the company now awaits a Final Investment Decision (FID) to commence development. With recoverable resources estimated at 550 million barrels and peak production expected at 110,000 barrels per day, this project could redefine Ghana's offshore oil capabilities.

2. GOIL and Planet One: A Strategic Partnership for Ghana’s Oil Potential

In December 2023, GOIL Upstream Ghana partnered with Planet One Oil and Gas Limited to advance operations at the Deepwater Cape Three Points (DWCTP) block. Under a farm-out agreement, Planet One will assume a 75% stake and lead operations pending regulatory approval.

This collaboration could unlock untapped opportunities in the DWCTP block, adding to Ghana's growing reputation as a hub for oil exploration and production.

3. Jubilee and TEN Fields: Sustaining Ghana’s Oil Output

Tullow Ghana's Jubilee South East project continues to deliver results with five new wells brought online in 2024. The average production remains steady at 90,000 barrels per day. Meanwhile, Tullow’s partners in the Jubilee and TEN fields are extending a gas sales agreement valued at $3.00/mmbtu until 2025, ensuring continued supply.

These advancements represent a stable future for Ghana’s energy production and its integration into the global energy market.

4. Jubilee Field Decommissioning: Planning for the Future

In 2024, Tullow Ghana and its partners established a $704 million decommissioning fund for the Jubilee field, appointing the Bank of Ghana as trustee. This proactive approach ensures the efficient and environmentally conscious closure of aging oil wells, reflecting Ghana’s commitment to responsible resource management.

5. Boosting Ghana’s Oil and Gas Investments with 3D Seismic Mapping

The Petroleum Commission has partnered with global firms to acquire advanced 3D seismic data across Ghana’s offshore oil fields. This initiative aims to enhance investor confidence and map Ghana’s oil potential comprehensively, addressing declining production rates.
