National Identification Number Required for Business Registration
The Registrar-General’s Department (RGD) recently announced that effective April 1, 2021, those registering new companies of any type must provide both their National Identification Numbers as indicated on their Ghana Card and Tax Identification Numbers. This measure follows the President’s 2021 State of the Nation Address in which he indicated the integration of National Identification, Tax Identification, and SSNIT Numbers.
During the transitional period ending on April 30, 2021, Tax Identification Numbers will only be generated temporarily at the RGD and the National Identification Authority will operate a desk at the RGD at which Ghana Cards may be issued to those registering their business. To ensure speedy service, prospective registrants are urged to ensure they obtain Ghana Cards and be prepared to present their National Identification Number upon filing.
